Recently, I seem to be having a few "waste of makeup days". For example, going into work and then either staying in the office all day or going in and then realizing I could work from home. One of the few things I enjoyed about working for TOPSHOP was that you could dress up every day (as long as it was on trend). The other was the make-up. When the range first launched, everyone was slightly worried that the line would be cheap and tacky - surprisingly this wasn't the case. I have a few pieces from the core collection and not only that it was a great way to touch up make up during the day or before leaving work if you were going out.
So I thought I would share my everyday make up...
Skin
I don't tend to wear a lot of make up in the day - or at least I thought I didn't until I saw this! I try not to wear a huge amount of foundation during the day but as I don't particularly like any tinted moisturizers so tend to mix Rimmel London, 25 hour lasting finish with either moisturizer or bronzing liquid (depending on whether I've tanned!) so its not so heavy during the day. I use Bright Here, Bright Now which is instant radiance energy balm - a little expensive but the tube in the picture I've had for over a year - a little goes a long way! It's a brilliant primer too and really does illuminate your skin!
Blush
This is the best picture of my blusher (the left) I could get on such a grey rainy day, but its a really lovely pink colour from Bourjois Paris Lune D'or (35) it have a rose scent and I love the little round pot with the mirror. This is definitely my favourite blusher day or night but I have so many others that I use including Dandelion Benefit and Sugarbomb. The highlighter (on the right)is Sunbeam by TOPSHOP - it originally was in the trend Amazon for the range but became a core piece of the collection, when the product sold out in stores everywhere and online. Before I bought this I used the tester every time I was at work. You definitely don't need to use a lot of this and I would recommend blowing the excess of your brush before applying, it is very powdery and its easy to apply to much - on the plus it will last for ages!
Eyes
This really is most make up I wear, having really fair eyelashes but quite dark auburn hair I do wear quite dark and sometimes heavy eye make-up. I sometimes but not often wear brown mascara and eyeliner but I'm not a huge fan of pencil eyeliner and I find brown liquid liners tricky to get in the right shade.
Daily, depending on what I doing or if I'm out of the office I tend to wear eyeliner and mascara - the mascara and liner stay the same but I normally use shadow if I'm out of about and think I'll be out late. Normally I stick to neutrals and browns for eyeshadow and often do a brown smoky eye! The colour on the bottom in the picture is Bobbi Brown Vanilla - I got this in America and the line has been discontinued. The colour on top is from Urban Decay's Naked Palette. the sidecar shade I tend to add this either lightly in the crease of my eye and underneath my bottom lashes or especially now in summer I dab it really lightly over my eyeliner - this definitely softens the look whilst keeping the shape eyeliner creates.
With eyeliner, as I said earlier, I'm not a huge fan of pencils and have used liquid eyeliner as long as I can remember - practice does make perfect and now I can apply it quickly and easily! Also, having fair lashes liquid eyeliner is a perfect way hiding the join that mascara sometimes doesn't completely cover. The eyeliner in the picture is actually a freebie from Company magazine and for £2 it is definitely worth it! The packaging is pretty tacky but the liquid eyeliner is amazing, a felt liner nib makes it easy to apply and the liner is dark (no going over) doesn't run, dries quickly and lasts all day. As for mascara I use two - Wild Curls by 17. This mascara is brilliant, long lasting and does create volume - it does clog your lashes which is the reason I use Falsies by Maybelline (Waterproof). I love the brush! The winged brush means it coats every lash and does create the false lash effect. It seperates lashes and makes them look longer! I don't use this on its own purely because I hate spidery lashes and unless you put loads (I mean about 5 coats or more) of this particular mascara on that is the effect. In the middle of the picture is Eye Bright. I use this at the very end of applying my eye make-up and just use it in the corners of my eyes to brighten them.
Lips
I'm not an avid lipstick wearer and tend to only apply it once in a day or night - however I love both these colours. Mink and Nevada both from TOPSHOP. Nevada (left on the image) looks really orange in the tube but comes out a lovely pale shade - I was never sure about really pale lipstick but my friend (best pal in the world) wears it a lot and really suits her - check out her blog - Tiny Atelier. Mink, the darker shade is slightly darker when on lips.
During the day I usually tend to apply Soap and Glory - Lip Pumping Gloss in apricot - for gloss and a chocolate orange flavour!
Other than that a quick spritz of hairspray (keeps make - up in place all day long) and I done!
